Project Share – Feeding the Homeless
And what will explain to you the path that is steep? It is the freeing of a (slave) from bondage, or the giving of food in a day of famine to an orphan relative, or to a needy (stranger) in distress, and being of those who believe, enjoin fortitude, and encourage kindness and compassion. Holy Quran, 90:12-17
Project Share, Inc, is a non-profit organization that focuses on feeding the hungry and homeless in Albuquerque, New Mexico; in an environment which fosters the opportunity for growth, education, and change.
The ICNM is honored and blessed to be the only organization that consistently serves two dinners a month at Project Share. As a Muslim community, we are showing true Islamic identity and values by fulfilling our duties towards Allah (SWT) by greeting each man, women and child with a message of peace and a hot, healthy meal.
Working together for more than five years, every other Tuesday, The Islamic Center of New Mexico and Project Share have been providing a hot, nutritious meal to 140 to 175 of Albuquerque’s hungry and homeless.
Volunteers are always needed to serve the meal between 4:45 pm and 6:00 pm. Volunteers younger than 14 years of age are encouraged to participate when accompanied by an adult. For more information, please contact Project Share Coordinator, Sister Kathy Ahghar at 505-550-1578.
The address of Project Share is 1515 Yale Blvd SE, just west and south of the ICNM.
Project Share also distributes clothing and non-perishable food boxes and welcomes all donations.
May Allah bless those brothers and sisters in their volunteer efforts to alleviate the hardships of all human beings and may this service shine light of our glorious deen and attract others towards Allah’s mercy, ameen.
